Weekend Fun in Ottawa - May 4 - 6

Saturday, May 5 is Free Comic Book Day!  Be sure to visit a participating Comic Book Store to get your Free Comic, and spend some time chatting about Comics with other enthusiasts!  The Ottawa Public Library is also celebrating Free Comic Book Day - with a chance to win 2 passes to Ottawa's Comicon

Diamond Jubilee of Elizabeth II is the theme for Ottawa's National Stamp Show - which boasts over 40 stamp dealers, series of society meetings, seminars and study groups. The show's awards ceremony is a great chance for everyone to socialize after the exhibits have been judged. Please join us as we celebrate philately -- the hobbies of stamp collecting and postal history collecting

On Sunday, Come Celebrate World Laughter Day on Parliament Hill - Join thousands of people around the world, making the world a happier place.

Meet Shean Donovan at the Lowe’s Community Rink Reno Rally at the Lowes in Kanata! This family friendly event includes: hockey skills and drills, free BBQ lunch, giveaways and much, much, more! Come discover how Lowe’s is helping rebuild minor hockey in your community.

The A La Carte: Let's Give Credit Exhibit at the Currency Museum is in its final weeks.  If you haven't been out to see this free little gem of a Museum, now is a great time!  The History of Counterfeiting Audio Tour is still available.

The Annual Kayak Festival and Freestyle Competition for the Capital Cup will be held at Champlain Rapids, Bates Island, Ottawa River.  It's free for spectators.

The Tulips are in bloom ~ and the Tulip Festival starts Friday!  They are hosting the Great Canadian Tulip Treasure Hunt.

Tons of Free Fun happening at the Ottawa Public Library this weekend - Knitting Groups, Children's Cultural Celebrations, Story Times, Mothers Day Crafts, Computer Workshops, Spanish Singing Classes, and French Speaking Clubs.  Be sure to check it out!

Author Linda Poitevin will be at the Carlingwood Coles 12 - 2 to sign copies of her first 2 books - Sins of the Angels and Sins of the Son

Juice Jam - Bringing music to young children (1-10)

Watson's Mill is celebrating its opening this season - Saturday - Throughout the day there will be historical interpreters and milling demonstrations, Used Book Sale and a BBQ for the community which will be from 11:45 to 1:30 pm.

The Nepean Museum of hosting a Mother's Day Craft for kids - Minimum donation of $1/per child

The Big Green Egg Cookout - Demonstrating on the Big Green Egg, how to cook all kinds of meat, cakes etc.

Ottawa Family Cinema is playing The Lorax in 3D - Admission $5 - $9

The Museum of Agriculture has a new exhibit - Taking Care of Beesness - in addition to their May Demos and Exhibits in Milking, Cooking with Honey, and a meet & greet with Eeyore the Donkey.

The Canadian Space and Aviation Museum has a few new things happening every Saturday in May - Remembering Operation Manna, A Bad Penny Always Comes Back, and Print Making Workshops.

The Musuem of Nature has a new exhibit - Nature into Sculpture - A juried exhibition of over 50 sculptures created by members of the National Capital Network of Sculptors. The sculptures are made from natural materials, such as bone, wood, stone and metal. Come meet many of the artists who created this year’s edition of this unique show.
